My historical romance- part 1 ♥

Hello! So, as some of you may know I have been writing a historical romance for a little while and I thought that today I would share some of it with you, so here goes!

Chapter 1
He grabs my arm with his strong, vice like grip and I can feel the tenseness in his muscles, like violin strings pulled so tight they may snap. Lowering his head, he whispers in my ear; 'it's always been you', his voice is astonishingly low and gravely, with a tinkling laugh only words away with every sentence he speaks. I make the mistake of looking up into his sea green eyes, loosing myself in the pools of beauty and safety, the pools that seem so inviting and hold a hope of happiness, I wasn't going to win this war, I was loosing not only what my father wanted me to keep but myself, and I didn't come here to lose myself, I came here to find myself.

Slowly, he blinks and I have the momentary feeling of triumph as I break free from the hypnotising spell that he has cast on me, I regain control of my brain and start to think logically again, but then he opens his eyes again and I don't have enough willpower to look away, all I want is to get lost in those eyes and to never be found. No, that's not what I'm here for, a voice in my head tells me, squashed by another voice commanding me to run away with him. The voices argue with each other and the volume increases, steadily getting louder until it becomes almost unbearable. Suddenly, as I'm about to scream out, the sound of echoing footsteps rushing towards us snaps me back into reality, and he lets go of my arm and I gaze out of the window, still in the hypnotic trance but trying to quell my uttermost desires, desires that my father would strongly disapprove of. I am not here to find love, I am here to become the respected, elegant young woman my father so desperately needs me to be.

By the time I arrive in my father's wing I have had time to think about my feelings, and what I can do to fulfil his greatest wishes and to ignore my own self indulgent fantasies. 'Lizzie, sit', my father motions at a plush chair with a floral design covering it, I follow his instructions and perch on the edge of the chair and politely accept the minuscule cup of tea that one of his maids offers me. 'Now, Lizzie, you recall why I called you here, I assume? It is to find yourself, forget your needs and obey those above you', my face contorts into a fierce, small scowl at this, my father and his overwhelmingly big ego. 'For now, you will receive etiquette lessons every afternoon at five o clock sharp in the conservatory, every morning at ten o clock you will receive a music lesson, every day at three o clock you shall have a cookery class and at noon you will have a writing lesson, so you can learn how to write in cursive properly and you will study poems and novels written by the greatest novelists of this millennium, my dear, it shall be divine.'

My father lost the bright sparkle that inhabited his eyes when my mother died eight years ago, however now a dim trace of that twinkle was returning, a shadow of the man he used to be was coming back, slowly but surely, and by forgetting my wishes and only doing as he says that would bring him back. Even if it did mean I'd have to stop thinking about him, the man who torments me and appears in my dreams most nights, and pops into my head unexpectedly everyday. I fan out my petticoats and reach for my father's wrinkled, soft hands, taking them in my own youthful, glowing hands and squeezing them tightly, showing him that I care deeply about him. I swallow my fears, this was going to be hard.

I am aware that it was a pretty short chapter, but that's just the way it is for now, I will edit it and make them longer but I just thought I'd share it with you the way it is.

So that's all I'm going to share for today, I hope you enjoyed and feel free to leave a comment and follow my blog and share it with your friends!
Big love,
Alice x

Breakfasts

Hello! I hope you're all well and having a great day, I'm not, I have a sore throat, swollen glands, ear ache, a headache, a cough, a runny nose and a really hot neck. So I'm not in school today, and I wasn't in yesterday either. I've missed a maths test already and now I'm missing a science test today. Needless to say, I feel super guilty about it. However, not being in school gives me the opportunity to write lots of blog posts and get work and revision done, I've got two blog posts done and scheduled to go up over the summer, when I won't have wifi for five and a half weeks and I won't have access to my laptop for over two months. I'm going to Spain for five and a half weeks this summer, I'm excited, but I'm even more excited to stay in the airport hotel in Gatwick! I'm also then going to stay with my grandma for a week and a bit, and then to my great uncle and aunt's for a day, and then to my aunt and uncles for one night. My aunt and uncle are also coming to stay with us in Spain, I'm really excited to see them again, I haven't seen them since September when we went to stay with them for twelve days. Ok, I'm rambling, I'll get on with the post, but leave me a comment telling me what you're up to this summer!

So today I wanted to do a post on breakfasts, because breakfast is the most important meal of the day, I have breakfast every single day, and I now know what foods I enjoy in the morning. I do not like toast in the mornings unless it's on thick, freshly baked bread with marmalade and no butter. I just cannot stand butter one bit. Anyway, I'm still rambling.

My favourite breakfast of possibly all time is pancakes, I love pancakes so much, and I make pretty amazing pancakes, so if you want a recipe then please tell me! I sometimes make pancakes, freeze them and take them into school for my breakfast with a little tub of pancake syrup, it's honestly so funny. Pancakes are generally just delicious. The one pancakes that I don't like are the ones from IHOP (International House Of Pancakes), they were so heavy and had an odd taste. The toppings I put on my pancakes are either maple syrup, sugar and lemon, cream and cinnamon or fresh fruit. I found that they had absolutely delicious pancakes in the Intercontinental Hotel in Singapore, they were absolutely delicious, I had mine with fresh cream and raspberry compote.

In the summer months I like to vary my breakfasts, and so I will occasionally have yoghurt, although technically, because it's dairy and I'm allergic to dairy, I shouldn't really have it. When I do have it though, my favourite yoghurt is the Rachel's raspberry bio-live yoghurt, it's absolutely mouth-wateringly delicious. I also really like the Rachel's lemon yoghurt, you wouldn't necessarily expect it, but it's so nice. I like to top my yoghurt with fruit, I'll usually have blueberries, raspberries and strawberries on it, though sometimes I do have sliced green grapes.

Although pancakes are my favourite breakfast food, I absolutely adore English Breakfast muffins and teacakes (not the chocolate things from M&S, ewww, but proper toasted teacakes), I get so excited when I have them and ahhh I really want one now! Usually, with my breakfast muffin/toasted teacake, I will have a beer glass (don't ask, they're just my favourite type of glasses) full of Tesco apple and raspberry juice, this is like the nicest drink ever (apart from tea, obvs).
Now, the next thing I only have at my best friend Sophie's house because her mum makes them for us, and it's waffles. She honestly makes the yummiest waffles ever and I love them so much. Sophie and I have an inside joke type thing where we both think that if we ever lived together we'd basically just live off of waffles and pancakes.
Right, the last few things are drinks, I like making smoothies and juices, and I recently made a yummy juice (it wasn't that recently, probably in December) but it had watermelon, blueberries, lemon juice and lime juice in (don't quote me on that, I'll have to make it again to check) but it's really yummy and makes two big glasses full. Then I also love hot chocolate from costa coffee, in the winter I used to have this a lot when we went to town in the mornings, but obviously now I can't have hot chocolate that much. I also love to have tea for breakfast, I don't know what it is but I could happily have just tea for breakfast, realistically though, that is probably really bad for you.

That is all from me today! I hope you enjoyed this post, it was going to be a revision tips post but I think I'll do that closer to exam season (well aware that Art IGCSEs started this week but hey ho), we shall see. I'm going to have more paracetamol now, byeee.

2016 collective makeup haul!

Hi! How's your week been, and how are you? Are you still on Easter holidays? We go back to school after this weekend and we have four CIE (Cambridge International Examinations) exams, which I'm dreading. We also have a history test on the civil rights, an English essay to hand in, a music performance and a science test. Yay :-(

As you've probably guessed from the title, today is a collective makeup haul (whooo) because 2016 has been the year where I've bought lots of makeup, and now I'm happy with my collection and I don't think I'll be buying anymore makeup anytime soon (unless it's like backup concealers, powders and stuff for the summer), although next month when I've saved up more money I might buy another Rimmel Stay Matte powder and a lovely bronzer.

I store all my makeup in two things, the first is a little plant pot from Ikea, it is called SKURAR and I will link it in case you're interested. http://www.ikea.com/gb/en/catalog/categories/series/24054/ I also store my makeup in a Bath and Body Works wash bag, which is blue and just says 'Life is better with sprinkles' on it, which unfortunately, I couldn't find, I don't think it's still for sale. but if I do see it online in the future I will let you know.

If you were wondering where I've purchased all this makeup from, then I am going to say when I talk about all the products, but it's basically just from Boots, Debenhams, Carrefour and H&M. I basically only have drugstore makeup in my collection since high end makeup is so expensive, but I would really like the Mac Velvet Teddy lipstick, but I'm going to buy that in the summer at the airport where it's cheaper.

Before I start, I would just like to say that all these opinions are my own and this post is not sponsored. I would also like to say that all these products individually cost under 20 pounds, so they're not too expensive.

Aaaaannnnnyyyyyways, I have done more than enough rambling, so I shall get on with the haul.

The first item is a brush, but it's not just any brush my friends, it is a precision angle concealer brush from H&M that was in the sale (!!!!) and I paid the equivalent to six pounds for it. Not going to lie to you, I thought that was kind of expensive, and so far I've mainly used this brush to dip into the concealer tubes that are almost empty and I want the product from. I have used it to blend a couple times, and I think that my fingers do a better job, if I'm completely honest. The thing I love about this brush is the look of it. It just looks really sleek and lovely and it fits in my makeup tub nicely. If you would like to buy this brush, the link is here: http://www2.hm.com/en_gb/productpage.0279860001.html

Item numero dos that I will be discussing is actually five things, I will be talking about five Maybelline New York lipsticks, but not in detail as I plan to do a post solely about them. Altogether, I paid nine pound 14 pence. The colours I have are 112 Ambre Rose, 140 Intense Pink, 148 Summer Pink, 240 Galactic Mauve, and 900 Pink Pop. To make these lipsticks stay longer, I've been putting a bit of the Rimmel Stay Matte powder over it and the job is done, it stays for ages and yesterday my friend complimented me on the colour I was wearing, which was Intense Pink. I store my Maybelline lipsticks in a box that had a candle in, I also store my Baby Lips by Maybelline in there too. I bought all of these from Debenhams in the beauty section, if you were interested. You can view the Maybelline lipsticks here: http://www.maybelline.co.uk/makeup/lip/lipstick.aspx

Moving on, the next thing is a bronzer from H&M. To be honest, I was so disappointed with this bronzer because it was a completely different shade to the tester. I was so annoyed, I will be buying another bronzer soon, I kind of want to try The Body Shop bronzer, but they're quite expensive so I don't know. If you are going to buy one of the H&M bronzers and you have very pale skin, DO NOT buy Golden Honey or darker. They're so dark and pigmented. I do like how shimmery it is though, and I think it will look absolutely gorgeous in the summer with a tan. The packaging of these are cute, they come with a mirror which is quite handy. You can buy a H&M bronzer here: http://www2.hm.com/en_gb/productpage.0274160001.html

Another H&M product, I picked up a powder brush, it comes travel size so it fits nicely in a handbag/schoolbag/other bag and it has a thing on it so it's protected. I think this is a great idea and I would definitely recommend it. It looks really nice in my tub,  You can view the brush here: http://www2.hm.com/en_gb/productpage.0279747001.html

Moving on, the next thing I had to pick up after watching Zoella's Boots Haul in either January or February, I instantly fell in love and bought it because it looked so so pretty. It is the MaxFactor crème puff blush in the colour 15 Seductive Pink. This is so pigmented, and it has beautiful veining running through it, and it's so shimmery. A little goes a long way with this product. I picked it up from Carrefour in late February, and I just love how pretty it looks. You can view/ purchase the full collection of blushes here: http://www.boots.com/en/Max-Factor-Creme-Puff-Blush_1639993/

Right, now I'll talk to you about a Kabuki Brush from H&M, it's so cute and it's so fluffy, I think I talked about it in my March favourites more in depth, so I won't talk about it so much in this post. I couldn't find the exact brush on the website, so I've linked a similar one: http://www2.hm.com/en_gb/productpage.0279678001.html

Next I will talk to you about the last H&M item in this haul, and it is a compact foundation, crème to powder matte finish. It looks lovely on, and if you have oily skin then don't let the matte part scare you, I have oily to dry sensitive skin and it looks fine. This powder is so long lasting, I put it on at 7am and it lasted till 6pm, and I went out and did stuff that day too. It comes with a mirror in the top bit and a sponge in the bottom, I don't really use the sponge anymore that much, but hey ho, I think it's useful anyways. I would definitely recommend this powder to anyone, so if you would like to take a look at it then this is the link: http://www2.hm.com/en_gb/productpage.0279618003.html

The next item is in fact a repurchase as the first one I accidently dropped down the stairs and the product inside smashed and I was heartbroken. It is the Rimmel Stay Matte powder, this is amazing and is my holy grail powder. The staying power isn't that great, I put it on at around 5.15 in the mornings before school, top it up at 7am, then it usually stays until 10.30, so I have to re-top it up at lunch time. It is still good though, and if you were just starting out with makeup and wanted a cheap, good powder then this is the one. I was going to pick one up yesterday, but being the complete idiot I am, I forgot. Mine has hit pan, but there's still some left, thankfully, and until I remember to pick another one up I am alternating between stay matte, a number 7 powder, and the H&M one. My shade is 004, sandstorm, and if you would like to take a look at the powders then this is the link:

Right, the next thing is a concealer and it is the Maybelline Fit Me! concealer, and my friends all rave about this concealer so I decided that I would finally pick it up and I've worn it once, it seems really good, it's so creamy and has amazing coverage and stays on your face for a long time. I would recommend this concealer if you were just starting out with makeup and wanted a good, medium to full coverage concealer. Mine is in the shade 15, which is like the lightest one. If you were interested in viewing this product, here is the link: http://www.boots.com/en/Maybelline-Fit-Me-Concealer_1279343/

Righto, the next thing I want to talk to you about is the Maybelline BB cream, 8 in 1 for oily skin. This gives really good coverage, it doesn't slide off and I have oily skin, so this is really good. You only need a little bit of this for your whole face, and it's so easy to blend. Mine's in the shade light, they do three shades, light, medium and dark. The one downside to this BB cream is the smell, it smells like olives and I absolutely hate olives and the smell of them. If you want to find out more about this BB cream then here's the link, just scroll down a bit and it shows you the three choices: http://www.maybelline.com/products/face-makeup/bb-cream.aspx
Now I will tell you about another concealer, this one is the Revlon Colourstay concealer, and to be completely honest with you, I am not a big fan of this concealer, I don't think it gives good coverage, you really have to put quite a few layers on for it to give a coverage, and it goes really cakey on me and it tends to come off. Mine is in the shade 01, pale. It goes dry in the bottle when it's running out too, and the brush kind o deflates. Nevertheless, I have bought this concealer twice, as there was nothing else on offer when I was looking. The link to this is: http://www.boots.com/en/Revlon-ColorStay-8482-Concealer_1312139/

Moving on, I will now talk to you about a foundation. This one is the Rimmel Lasting Finish 25 hour foundation, and let me tell you, it does not last twenty five hours. Not even five when you don't prime your face. It's ok though, it has a buildable coverage, it starts medium and after a few layers it can be built up to full coverage. I don't think this is the best foundation for oily skin, it tends to slide off my face and look quite cakey. I generally have to rub it off in the school bathrooms at lunch time. Mine is in the shade 100, Ivory and the actual foundation contains SPF 20. I actually quite like the smell of this foundation, I think it smells really fresh and nice. If you want to view it then here's the link: http://www.boots.com/en/Rimmel-Lasting-Finish-25hour-Foundation-with-comfort-serum_1150829/
Now I'll talk to you about an amazing primer. It's the Maybelline Baby Skin Instant Pore Eraser lightweight primer, and oh my god. This is just incredible. I cannot stress enough how amazing this is, I would definitely recommend this, it's just the best thing out there. It feels really smooth and really does instantly make your skin look better. You also only need a tiny amount for your skin. I really don't have any negative things to say about this primer. If you would like to purchase this then here's the link: http://www.boots.com/en/Maybelline-New-York-Baby-Skin-Instant-Pore-Eraser-Lightweight-Primer_1416202/
Moving on to eyebrows, I'm going to tell you about the Bourjois Paris Sourcil  Precision eyebrow pencil. I filled in my eyebrows for about six weeks, and then went off it, but this pencil is so good. I still use the brush thing on the end to brush my eyebrows through everyday, but the actual pencil is so good. They have buildable colour (is that the right word?) and are really good, I would recommend this if you wanted to fill in your eyebrows but didn't know what to use. This is the link to it: http://www.boots.com/en/Bourjois-Eyebrow-pencil_1668194/

The very last thing I will be telling you about is another foundation, which is the Maybelline Fit Me foundation. My shade is 115 and it matches the concealer. I really like this foundation because it gives really good coverage and has a lovely finish. It's a lot more long lasting than the Rimmel foundation, and I would definitely recommend this foundation to anyone. I'm terrified too take this foundation anywhere though, in case it smashes, which is a downside, as if it did smash the product would definitely go everywhere. If you would like to view the foundation this is the link: http://www.superdrug.com/Maybelline/Maybelline-Fit-Me-Foundation-Natural-Beige-220/p/498951

That is my massive haul complete, I hope you enjoyed and I will see you soon with another post, toodlepip!
