Hello! Today I am sharing part 3 to my historical romance with you, I'm really getting into this series so I hope you like it too!
Chapter 3
A sharp knocking on my door brings me back to reality, I haven't left my bed for at least a week, refusing to get up every day and hiding underneath my covers like they are my
shield and I'm going into battle, only I never do, I just stay put under my armour, protecting myself from the outside world, keeping myself in isolation, only allowing Lila to come in and clean my room and bring me food, she never asks questions, she just does it and accepts that I don't want to move.
Slowly, the handle turns and my father confidently strides into the room, he sits in the grey, velvet chair opposite my bed and stares me square in the face. Pretending not to notice him, I intently stare at the ancient wallpaper, taking in the pattern and the texture for the billionth time, hoping against hope that my father will depart my room and shut the door, shutting the door on all human life and society. Unfortunately, he leans in closer so I can see the wrinkles that line his face and his eyes, his receding hairline and pale skin, eyes glazed with concern and sadness. He sighs at my evident lack of enthusiasm and gravely shakes his head. 'Lizzie, my dear,' he starts, his voice almost unrecognisable with an apologetic tone. 'Mister Williams has told me everything.' My cheeks flush, changing my usually porcelain china, pale skin to a tinted pink, rosy look. 'I cannot believe I've been so stupid' he continues, and I pull the silk covers higher up my bed, needing warmth to protect me from the unexpected chill brought upon me. 'I had completely forgotten that you detest cats in the house as you get allergic reactions, so I have sent for the two cats to reside in the stables.' I let out a sigh of relief, he doesn't know the truth about our romantic engagements. 'Oh, and I hear that your sister is coming to stay tomorrow.' My father adds as he walks across the wooden floor, footsteps echoing loudly around the vast chamber. Under my breath, I curse my sister and lay my head back down on the feather filled, silk pillows. 'Also, Elizabeth, you have your music lesson at ten o clock. Be there on time, I expect to hear beautiful music floating through the house.' Shaking with relief, I get up out of bed, removing myself from my armour and exposing myself to the world. I feel more vulnerable than ever before.
Somehow I make it through the day without crossing paths with Colin, I struggle to concentrate in any of my lessons, finding myself glancing out the window and fiddling with my bracelets for most of the day. At lunch I barely eat any of my stew and I refuse the rice pudding offered to me for dessert, instead I take to sipping ice cold water for the entirety of the meal. A dull hunger possesses my body, not a hunger for food, but for love, for the man who I dream about. How I wish he was with me, to hold me in his muscular arms and take me to a world that is entirely our own, a world I have been longing to revisit for what seems like years.
At half past two I hear horse heels trotting down the gravel drive, and for a horrifying moment I am convinced my sister is approaching the house with her frivolous frocks and lacy frills, spending her money like it's worthless and she doesn't need it to survive. Her carefree manner and toxic habits nauseate me, I do not enjoy being in the company of my vulgar, immature sister and Lord knows how I will manage being with her for a week, her badgering me, trying to prise out information about my personal life, and to her that includes any sniff of romance that may concern me. Lying to her constantly for so long becomes exhausting, draining me of my limited supply of energy. Thankfully, it turns out to be my father's aristocrat friends coming down from London, turning up for a leisurely afternoon of croquet and pigeon shooting, coming down to get some of the fresh country air that London lacks. I often find myself wondering about what it would be like to live in a newly industrialised city, a thousand people to meet, a crowd to get lost in, to go unnoticed and unscrutinised for every little thing I do.
Father's friends stay to dine with us for dinner, and they drink a little too much rum and they start to get rowdy, their raucous laughter echoing round the house, drunken smiles
plastered on their faces as they tip countless glasses of alcohol down their throats. Father is the only one who stays sober, his heart condition making him cautious of getting drunk and killing himself, instead he sits there and laughs at the ridiculous predicaments his friends make and I take this as an opportunity to politely leave the dining room, and I escape back to my bed, to hide under the thick covers and block out the world. I decide to run a bath, and the water makes a satisfying sound as it collides with the tin bathtub, I watch it steam away and I silently count my blessings, we are amongst a few privileged households to have a hot, running water supply that is refilled regularly, meaning that whenever I want I can have a relaxing bath, whereas the people in the workhouses do not have a choice when they have a wash, and from what I've heard, it's never warm water they bathe in either.
Uncomfortably loud laughter is still floating around the house a few hours later after I've had my bath and changed into a silk nightgown, so I decide to go on a spontaneous midnight stroll through the garden. Refreshing, cold air hits me in the face the instant I step outside, my feet bare and my hair cascading down my back. I have never felt so free in my life. Making an erratic decision, I run through the garden, breathing in the damp, mossy smell in the air and catching a whiff of pine, a smile creeps onto my face and I feel my cheeks going pink and my eyes sparkling. A moment of freedom found in imprisonment can be a rare, delightful thing. For that one moment I hold the illusion of everything being pristinely perfect; no expectations to meet, no love affairs to conceal and nothing to worry about. How deceiving life can be.
Quite suddenly, I hear footsteps crunching on the drive, and my heart almost stops, and then a tall, handsome silhouette turns round the corner and I gasp. My heart does stop. 'Colin?' I only audibly whisper, praying he won't hear me.
'Elizabeth? What are you doing here? Are you sleepwalking?' Colin's voice is full of surprise, worry and delight, probably an exact reflection of my voice. A beam of moonlight shines on him, revealing the big muscles on his upper arm, sitting under a blue cotton nightshirt, his perfectly tousled hair dances playfully in the light, midsummers breeze and for the first time in months I don't feel regret and guilt regarding the many nights we spend in each other's company, playfully giggling with delight and caressing one another; I just feel desire and an urge to do it all again, to repeat our dangerous actions and live in our idyllic universe where there is no ill father, no sister to potentially expose us to the world, just us and our emotions. 'I could ask you the same question. I came out here for a midnight stroll, what about you?' I try to keep my cool and look composed, however from the impish shadow of a smile creeping onto Colin's face, bathing in the white glow of moonlight. 'Oh, I just came out here to admire the night scenery, and I was hoping I'd bump into you.' He takes a step closer to me, closing the distance, electricity sparks up and I can feel the attraction between us. 'We don't have to hide anymore.' Colin whispers, trying to temp me into a world where we can be together without the fear of anyone finding out about our romantic engagements. Oh how inviting it sounds, to love without fear. An image of my frail father pops back into my head, he needs me more than anything. 'Colin.' I say, a single tear falling down my translucently pale face. 'I can't do this. I have to stay here. We can never be together, I need to stay with my father, he needs me.' Before I feel my heart shatter into a thousand fragments, I wrench myself out of his strong arms and rush back into the house and up to my room, the only place where I feel safe. It is the last thing I want to do. Almost robotically, I brush my hair, wash my face, get into bed, close my eyes and fall into a troubled, light sleep, dominated by thoughts of Colin and my father. My sister coming to stay will only make these already disturbed nights even worse, she will turn my bad dreams into nightmares.
That's that! I know the paragraphing isn't great but I hope you liked it anyway!
Big love,
A xo

My historical romance: part 2 ❤
Hi! Today I'm doing part 2 to my historical romance, so I hope you like it!
Chapter 2
As I am engrossed in my thoughts, contently swinging on the swaying bench, soaking in the Suns Rays and enjoying the freshness of the air, a shadow obscures the light, and I know exactly who it is from the way they hold their body, the size of their feet, the pleasant smell of safety and home radiating off of them like my favourite perfume, and the way their
hands are leisurely hanging by their sides, fingernails so neatly filed and kept, unlike my own which I have gnawed almost down to the bed, causing my hands to become a shocking sight to anyone who even briefly glances at them. I shut my book with a snap, loosing the page I was on, and for a split second I thought I'd deterred him, yet somehow I managed to do quite the opposite, the corners of his mouth turned upwards into a smile and the dimples I used to obsess over appear in his cheeks, making him seem as handsome as ever. Silently, I pray that he won't move and sit next to me, and it seems that the Lord was on my side, as he hesitated and stood lingering. 'Elizabeth, listen', he starts, and I roll my eyes, staying in control of my own thoughts and not letting my emotions run ahead of me, so far ahead that I can't even see them anymore. 'I know you came here hoping to never see my face again, and I can understand that, but know that I still think of you very fondly and hope that we can rekindle our sparks.' I turn my head to the side, facing him straight on for the first time. 'Colin, it won't work, we've had so many chances and each time you've thrown them all away, like they were worthless shillings to you, like I was a worthless shilling to you.' Blinking back tears, I elegantly rise from my seat and walk off, my hands shaking ferociously and my heart beating faster than a million miles an hour.
Furiously, I kick a pine cone at the wall, it shatters at impact and makes me feel slightly better. My ears pick up the sound of footsteps hurrying towards me again, and so I angrily turn round, expecting Colin to be begging for forgiveness, however my eyes are met with the surprising sight of my plump, flustered maid, Lila, approaching me with a look of concern on her face. 'My dear Elizabeth, your sister has sent a letter to you, she says that she is...' Lila delves into her pockets and pulls out a letter, written in small, loopy cursive, the unmistakable handwriting of my eccentric younger sister, Bethany. 'She says that she is "looking forward to seeing you, as she will be visiting on the next Sunday coming and expects to stay for no less than a week".' I fiddle with the fraying hems of my lace gloves, glowering at my sister's nerve yet trying to keep myself together. 'She also mentions that she has acquired a male friend, miss.' Angrily, I look up, my face mirroring the disapproval on Lila's own round face, she fidgets awkwardly and I come back to my senses. I sigh and shake my head, with all that is taking place at the moment it seems a most inconvenient time for my sister to visit, and my hesitation to reach out to her when our mother died will surely be raised by her, and I will be faced with too many questions to answer in such a short time slot. 'Lila, I think some tea and scones are in order, I will be in my chamber, can you bring them up?' Lila nods, nothing is too much for her, she never seems to be overwhelmed or unnerved by situations like these. 'Certainly miss, right away, I'll see you there.' She curtsies clumsily and scuttles away to the kitchens, whilst I make my way down the garden path to the patio, which I cross and pull open the doors to the sitting room. My eyes take in the familiar sight of the overly floral furniture, so bright and plush it seems blinding, my nostrils sense the smell of dying fire embers and ash, and of the scented flowers resting in the vase, blending in with the rest of the room. Listening carefully, I can hear the soft padding of footsteps and voices echoing below me, the staff in the kitchen and their quarters, and I can vaguely make out the sound of my father's steady breathing in the adjoining room, at least I know he is still alive.
My heels click on the wooden floors as I head to my chamber, the only place where I can escape the melancholy madness that fills these four walls and in-prisons us like wild animals, and wanders the corridors and hallways, a prominent character often felt yet never seen. The house may as well be a mental asylum, the sadness and madness our keepers, and us the patients who have an incurable case of worry and sorrow, threatening to tip us over the edge.
That's chapter two, and again, it's short but I hope you liked it anyway!

Q&A; homework, gymnastics, crushes & makeup ☆
Hi! I wanted to do a Q&A today purely because I wanted everyone who reads this to know a bit about me and answer some questions. So let's do just that!
Favourite youtuber?
That's quite hard because I like loads of YouTubers, but right now it's probably Eve Bennett or Gabby's vlog channel
What drugstore makeup items do you recommend?
Definitely the Maybelline primers, they are literally amazing and I really love them, I have the instant pore eraser one (the one in blue packaging) and you only need a tiny amount for your whole face, like less than a pea sized dot. In this case, a little goes a long way. I also love the Rimmel Stay Matte powder, my shade is 004, sandstorm, but when I went to get a spare one the other day I could only find 003, peach blossom, which is a shade lighter than I'd usually go for. If you want a super good coverage, under eye highlighting concealer then definitely go for the Rimmel match perfection concealer, or if you want an alternative then the Maybelline fit me concealer is also amazing. For lip products, I mainly use the baby lips by Maybelline because I have a slight lip balm obsession (I have to apply lip balm like every 5 minutes), so I would recommend those lip balms. I don't want to go too in-depth because there will be a drugstore makeup favourites/makeup collection/dressing table beauty post coming soon, I might do all three, who knows? :-)
Favourite song at the moment?
Now this one I don't know, I have been loving lots of songs at the moment, especially anything by Little Mix, The Vamps, Shawn Mendes, The 1975, One Direction, 5 Seconds of Summer, and so on, there's too many to choose from! But my top three are probably Windmills by The Vamps, Hair by Little Mix and Love Me Like You by Little Mix.
What activities do you do out of school?
Erm well I did MUN, and I'm going to do it again in September, but the person who runs it and I don't get along very well, so when they're gone in September I'm going to re-join. it. I also do flute, but my teacher got cancer so he's off until September, then I did gymnastics for a while but had to stop because of school, I did tennis for years and years, and I do ballet three times a weeks. I also like to think of blogging as a thing, so I guess I could add that too.
How do you cope with homework and revision?
Well, I try to be really organised and focused. I do my homework when I get home from school so I'm in the right mindset, I will have a cup of tea with me and just work. Sometimes, I procrastinate so much and barely get anything done, other days I'll just be able to work. I usually find homework ok, I get at least two time consuming pieces a night, if not more. Over the weekend I have lots of homework, history essay, English essay prep (I wasn't in school for the actual analysis and reading of the text so I have two A3 sheets which are double sided to fill out), two maths unit tests, French revision, science past paper, maths revision and art exam prep. I don't know how I'm going to do it, to be completely honest. Just keep going, that's my motivation, to keep going because then you can flop down in bed and go to sleep afterwards.
How old are you?
I'm fourteen, fifteen in March next year.
What subjects did you choose for IGCSE and how should I choose?
Well, you should choose based on what you enjoy most in school, and what you feel you excel in and would be comfortable doing for the next two years. I chose twice, but I'll only tell you about the choices I made in my current school. So after English Literature and English Language, Maths and Additional Maths/Further Maths, Biology, Chemistry & Physics, I had four choices, so I chose French, Geography, Sociology and History. Originally, I chose Sociology, Geography, Computer Science and History, but then I swapped to French (it still needs to be finalised on the school system) because I like French more.
Where are you going this summer and where do you want to travel to?
This summer I am going to England and Spain, and when I'm in Spain my family and I are going to visit Almeria, Mojacar Pueblo, Mojacar, Malaga and Alicante. I would love to visit Venice, Rome, Miami, Orlando, the French Alps, Amsterdam, Cornwall, Hungary, Oman, South Africa and of course, Singapore again. Oh, a little side note, I was thinking of doing a Singapore travel diary, so let me know if you'd like that in the comments!
What exciting blog posts have you got lined up?
Well, there's just too many! I have some photography series coming up, so far I have a two for that little series, I have some recipes coming up soon, book reviews, skincare essentials, and many many more that I don't want to share right now, I've written them but I don't want to give them away, all I can say is wait for the summer!
How much high end makeup do you own?
None :( I'm getting mac's plink! this summer, it's a lipstick, I'm so excited and I can't wait to get it. I don't really think I want much high end makeup, just plink! and then I'm content, there was a blush I saw in Sephora that I really liked, but I don't know whether I'll get it. Please do leave any high end makeup you love and think I should try out in the comments, I'd love to do reviews!
How did you get your skin to clear up?
If you didn't know, I had pretty bad skin for at least two years, if not longer. Then, all of a sudden about three weeks ago it started to clear up, and I think it was because of the antibiotics I was put on. After two bottles of it, my skin was really clear, and it is still clear now (I have two spots and three scars), I use a variety of Simple and Boots own products, there will be a skincare routine coming very soon. I also haven't eaten sweets and chocolate in like forever, or dairy, actually, and my skin is hyper-allergic, so I'm allergic to dairy, so I haven't had any in a while, and I haven't really had any chocolate, apart from the odd mini egg still lying around after Easter, and I haven't had sweets in ages. I've also eaten tons of almonds lately, which are supposedly really good for you skin.
Where do you buy your clothes from?
Well, I practically live in my pyjamas, which are from tescos and BHS, but the rest of my clothes are from a variety of shops. I have two pairs of jeans from gap that I practically live in, I have a skirt and a jumper from Forever 21 that I love, three tops from Old Navy, a pair of black leggings that I basically wear all the time from M&S, grey leggings which I love from Zara, along with three pairs of shorts and three-five tops, two jumpers and a jacket from there, then I have two cardigans and a few tops from H&M, then some t-shirts from Go Sport, and then a jumpsuit, cardigan, skirt, jumper and top from Tescos. Don't worry, I'll probably have a style guide up soon :)
Any tips for when you have a crush?
Erm, be yourself, that's really important, just be yourself around them, talk to them in real life as well as online, and then drop compliments here and there to them, and always smile and acknowledge them when you see them. I'm not good with crush advice sorry ahaha.
TV shows you've been loving recently?
Call the midwife as per usual, Death in paradise, I love love love death in paradise, its so funny and amazing and yep, and then Casualty, of course, I watch it every week on iPlayer, Great British Bake Off because its just life, Pretty Little Liars and Grey's anatomy.
What are you looking forward to in the near future?
For starters, tomorrow I'm going to the cinema with my friend Hollie, and her sister (who's also my friend) Chloe, and possibly our other friend Kimberley, then on Saturday I'm also going to the cinema with some friends, then I'm looking forward to the end of term and summer holidays!!!!
That wraps up today's post, I'm sorry there were no pictures, I didn't know what pictures to put. I hope you enjoyed and I'll be back soon with another post, byeee!

My historical romance- part 1 ♥
Hello! So, as some of you may know I have been writing a historical romance for a little while and I thought that today I would share some of it with you, so here goes!
Chapter 1
He grabs my arm with his strong, vice like grip and I can feel the tenseness in his muscles, like violin strings pulled so tight they may snap. Lowering his head, he whispers in my ear; 'it's always been you', his voice is astonishingly low and gravely, with a tinkling laugh only words away with every sentence he speaks. I make the mistake of looking up into his sea green eyes, loosing myself in the pools of beauty and safety, the pools that seem so inviting and hold a hope of happiness, I wasn't going to win this war, I was loosing not only what my father wanted me to keep but myself, and I didn't come here to lose myself, I came here to find myself.
Slowly, he blinks and I have the momentary feeling of triumph as I break free from the hypnotising spell that he has cast on me, I regain control of my brain and start to think logically again, but then he opens his eyes again and I don't have enough willpower to look away, all I want is to get lost in those eyes and to never be found. No, that's not what I'm here for, a voice in my head tells me, squashed by another voice commanding me to run away with him. The voices argue with each other and the volume increases, steadily getting louder until it becomes almost unbearable. Suddenly, as I'm about to scream out, the sound of echoing footsteps rushing towards us snaps me back into reality, and he lets go of my arm and I gaze out of the window, still in the hypnotic trance but trying to quell my uttermost desires, desires that my father would strongly disapprove of. I am not here to find love, I am here to become the respected, elegant young woman my father so desperately needs me to be.
By the time I arrive in my father's wing I have had time to think about my feelings, and what I can do to fulfil his greatest wishes and to ignore my own self indulgent fantasies. 'Lizzie, sit', my father motions at a plush chair with a floral design covering it, I follow his instructions and perch on the edge of the chair and politely accept the minuscule cup of tea that one of his maids offers me. 'Now, Lizzie, you recall why I called you here, I assume? It is to find yourself, forget your needs and obey those above you', my face contorts into a fierce, small scowl at this, my father and his overwhelmingly big ego. 'For now, you will receive etiquette lessons every afternoon at five o clock sharp in the conservatory, every morning at ten o clock you will receive a music lesson, every day at three o clock you shall have a cookery class and at noon you will have a writing lesson, so you can learn how to write in cursive properly and you will study poems and novels written by the greatest novelists of this millennium, my dear, it shall be divine.'
My father lost the bright sparkle that inhabited his eyes when my mother died eight years ago, however now a dim trace of that twinkle was returning, a shadow of the man he used to be was coming back, slowly but surely, and by forgetting my wishes and only doing as he says that would bring him back. Even if it did mean I'd have to stop thinking about him, the man who torments me and appears in my dreams most nights, and pops into my head unexpectedly everyday. I fan out my petticoats and reach for my father's wrinkled, soft hands, taking them in my own youthful, glowing hands and squeezing them tightly, showing him that I care deeply about him. I swallow my fears, this was going to be hard.
I am aware that it was a pretty short chapter, but that's just the way it is for now, I will edit it and make them longer but I just thought I'd share it with you the way it is.
So that's all I'm going to share for today, I hope you enjoyed and feel free to leave a comment and follow my blog and share it with your friends!
Big love,
