Why start a blog? ❄

Hello, so today I thought that I would do something different, and that is a why start a blog post. I started my first blog in November 2015, and I kept that one going until March 2016, until I started this one. I used a website called simple site to write my blog on, it wasn't a great website, it wasn't easy to use but I still did it. I just wanted to share with you some reasons why you should start a blog, if you were thinking about it.

1. Do it because you love writing
I absolutely adore writing. I write stories and blog posts and essays all the time. Writing is one of my passions and one day I aspire to be an author. Currently, I'm working on a historical romance that my friend and I are fangirling over and creating ship names for all the characters. For me, a blog was a way to let out my creativity and write whenever I want, with an audience to give feedback.

2. You can help others
Your corner of the internet may be where others go to look for advice, or if they're sad. You have the power to teach people many different things, all via the internet. People say the internet is a scary place, and yes, it is if you take a wrong turn, but personally, I think it's a magical place, ordinary people everywhere are helping others and to me that's pretty wonderful.

3. You can be creative!
Creativity is at the heart of everything. And by blogging, you can develop your creativity and channel it into writing posts, taking artistic pictures, thinking of creative things to say. Blogging really is a window to creativity and I think that for teenagers especially, it's a great way to be more creative and original.

4. Don't do it just to get money!
Tons of people only start blogs just so they can get money from sponsors and things, but that's not right! Don't blog just for the money, do it because you actually want to, and you really like it. I only blog because it's something I enjoy, money has never occurred to me, sure, it would be nice to have this as a full time job in the future, but for now I'm happy with it just being a hobby, and I don't need to worry about work for another four years anyway.

5. It makes you happy
Now, blogging is very satisfying. There's nothing nicer than finishing a post and publishing it and then scrolling through it, knowing you've written it. It is just a platform that you can scroll through for hours, forget your life and just feel happy reading what other people have written.

6. It lets you document your life
Blogging is a very versatile hobby/job, you can do whatever you want, someone might create a blog on baking, someone else may create a blog to do with economics and so on, it gives you the freedom to tell your audience all about your life and what you did on that particular day/week.

7. You can keep in contact with you relatives
I have a friend who uses her blog to talk to her friends in a different country, she uses it to update them on her life and find out how they are. Blogging does not mean you have to create posts and tips and tricks for the general public, you can use your blog to update people on your life.

8. You can become a better writer
Blogging makes you become a better writer, you get practice writing when you write your posts and it also develops your communication skills.

9. It leads to better life habits
Blogging requires time and devotion, it's not something you can abandon halfway through the task, you have to keep at it and this disciplines you to do the same for your other habits and so your life becomes more disciplined and well organised.

10. You can meet new people
If your blog is noticed and you become successful, you will meet new people, in fact, your blog doesn't have to be successful for you to meet new people, if you go to blogger events then you can meet new people, and even just meeting with a viewer still counts.

I hope these tips helped you, comment below if you want me to do more posts like this!
Big love,
Alice x
